Africa 2010

Greetings Family and Friends,
I have the opportunity to visit Uganda and Ethiopia this summer. Many of you have been instrumental in the support of the orphan care centers that I have worked with in the past. This will be by far the biggest step toward long-term partnership for care and development.
What do I want to accomplish?
1.) Establish Child Sponsorship Programs at the following orphan care centers:
St. Ameria Orphan Care Center; Mbiko, Uganda
YWAM Mercy Development Center; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
CCCE; Soddo, Ethiopia
2.) Renew past friendships established in these locations.
Why is this important?
1.) These children have urgent needs.
2.) Beyond simply providing for children’s basic needs, sponsorship leads to education, a lasting investment.
3.) Accountability is necessary for transparency and long-term care.
4.) Most importantly – God cares about orphans and we should too.
What can you do to help?
1.) Donate money for airfare and camera/computer gear.
2.) Contact me about purchasing photos on My Flickr Site (http://www NULL.flickr NULL.com/johnpaulvicory/).
3.) Pray that I will be able to go and build on what God has started.
I appreciate your consideration in partnering with me to better the lives of children in Uganda and Ethiopia. The long term goal is that these children, through your support, will grow up to change their communities and nations in positive ways for the Kingdom of God.

Sincerely, John Paul Vicory

More Information:
I wrote a community development proposal for a class as part of a Master’s Degree in International Care and Community Development. With this assignment, I had the opportunity to put together all of my previous ideas about what I want to do not only at St. Ameria’s Orphan Care Center in Uganda, but with orphan care in general. This project proposal can be adapted to other orphan care centers like those I will be visiting this summer.

Thank you and God Bless.
